ICP’s ID Job Hunting Minute Video Series
To develop a better-prepared candidate pool for the incredibly rewarding careers available in industrial distribution, the Industrial Careers Pathway has introduced an online video series, the ID Job Hunting Minute with spokesman Justin Time. Following a recent soft launch, the series continues on YouTube in a 25-part biweekly series. The ID Job Hunting Minute features practical tips for young technically-minded job seekers—tips that will bring industrial distributors candidates primed for success in industrial distribution.
The series, targeted to 18-34 year olds, was made specifically for distribution on YouTube, one of the most popular online destinations for the demographic. Justin walks viewers through the hiring process, from explaining what the industrial distribution industry is right up to providing tips on following-up after an interview. And, with content developed by experienced industry insiders, Justin shares humorous true tales from human resources managers on the common annoyances recruiters face from unprepared candidates.
“We put these job hunting tips into a video format since this is the medium preferred by the millennial generation, the group we are looking to attract to industrial distribution,” said Terry Knight, director of strategic sales and business development for SKF USA Inc. and ICP Steering Committee chair. “We also kept them short and focused on one topic per episode, and we included a bit of humor throughout to keep it fun.”
Creating this series is just one of the many ways ICP gets the word out about the opportunities available in industrial distribution and manufacturing. Many employers are looking for new employees as the baby boom generation approaches retirement. ICP encourages employers as well as employees currently in the field to share these video tips with the younger generation, and let them know how incredibly rewarding it is to work in the field of industrial distribution.
