2010 ISA American Eagle winners named
The Industrial Supply Association recognized six companies with American Eagle Awards at the 1st Annual Product Show & Conference in Indianapolis on May 2.
Value-Added Partner
Replenex of Eden Prairie, Minn., and 3M of St. Paul, Minn., received the American Eagle Value-Added Partner Award for their efforts to enable New Flyer Industries (NFI) of St. Cloud, Minn., to standardize product and pricing activities in three facilities across the U.S. and Canada. Replenex and 3M worked closely with NFI, a manufacturer of heavy-duty buses, to eliminate product, price and process inconsistencies across the NFI facilities to identify best solutions, evaluate potential cost savings and standardizes processes on both sides of the border. The effort enabled NFI to achieve an estimated $250,000 in annual savings.
Value-Added Distributor
DGI Supply, a DoALL Company, earned the Value-Added Distributor Award for its efforts to document 988 individual projects that generated more than $6.3 million in cost savings for customers in 2009. The Wheeling, Ill.-based company developed a Web-based Productivity Form for documenting savings, revised its compensation plan to reward account managers for documenting cost savings for customers, and created a monthly bonus and recognition plan for associates that documented the most savings.
Value-Added Manufacturer
Fullerton Tool Company of Saginaw, Mich., won the Value-Added Manufacturer Award, which recognized the efforts of its Fullerton Advanced Solutions Team (FAST). Externally, the FAST team is committed to listening to and responding to customers to help them achieve their goals and become more efficient and profitable. Internally, Fullerton is dedicated to lean principles and continuous improvement aimed at reducing lead times, improving quality and adding value at every step.
Value-Added Independent Manufacturers Representative
For the second consecutive year, Weinacht & Associates of Collinsville, Ill., received the Value-Added Independent Manufacturer Representative Award. After conducting a seminar focusing on time-saving best practices at a distributor open house, Weinacht was invited by an end-user customer to demonstrate the Jergens ball lock and vise products, which reduced setup time in the customer's machine shop. The quick-change process enabled the company to reduce setup time by about 76 hours per week, for an annualized savings of more than $300,000.
Corporate Citizenship
Streamlight Inc. of Eagleville, Pa., earned the Corporate Citizenship Award for its support of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), an organization that provides resources to help rebuild the lives of surviving families and co-workers of police officers killed in the line of duty. Streamlight annually provides financial support and flashlights to the organization, plus encourages Streamlight employees to volunteer their time to assist with National Police Week observances in Washington, D.C., mentoring programs for children of survivors and other activities. Several employees also regularly participate in the annual COPS Walk, which brings together survivors, friends and members of the law enforcement community to walk 25 miles in two days to support COPS and its mission.
