Manufacturing expands for second consecutive month
Economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in April for the second consecutive month.
The latest Manufacturing ISM Report On Business from the Institute for Supply Management showed the PMI registered 50.8 percent, a decrease of 1 percentage point from the March reading of 51.8 percent.
A reading above 50 percent indicates that the manufacturing economy is generally expanding; below 50 percent indicates that it is generally contracting.
