Interline Brands sales up 5.4%
Interline Brands reported first-quarter sales of $313.6 million, a 5.4% increase compared to $297.4 million in the comparable 2011 period.
The facilities maintenance end-market, which comprised 76% of sales, increased 7.8% during the first quarter. The professional contractor end-market, which comprised 14% of sales, increased 2.5% for the quarter. The specialty distributor end-market, which comprised 10% of sales, decreased 5.4% for the quarter.
"We are pleased with our performance during the first quarter of 2012. In particular, we delivered our highest quarterly organic sales growth in our Facilities Maintenance end-market since the fourth quarter of 2007. The strategic investments we made last year have provided us with strong momentum to start the year," said Michael J. Grebe, chairman and CEO.
Net income for the quarter increased to $7.5 million, or 23 cents per share, compared to $6.9 million, or 20 cents per share, in the comparable 2011 period.
