Moskowitz remembered
Alan Moskowitz, the longtime CEO of Leight Sales Co. of Carson, Calif., died on May 13 following a battle with cancer.
"With heavy hearts we say goodbye to Alan Moskowitz, the heart and soul of Leight Sales and an icon in the hardware industry for over 51 years," the company said in a statement announcing his death. "As CEO of Leight Sales he built one of the longest standing independent distributorships in the U.S. A family business for 69 years, Alan took over when his father-in-law, George Leight, passed the baton in 1974. Alan's son, Bryan, who has led the company for many years, continues on the Leight Sales tradition."
Alan was a devoted family man. Together with his wife Helene, they raised three sons, Mark, Michael, Bryan and daughter Lysa. For over 50 years Alan enjoyed the successes and challenges of building Leight Sales and making many lifelong friendships along the way. In addition, he is survived by his daughters-in-law, son-in-law, nine grandchildren, many nieces and a nephew.
