Horizon Solutions to open N.Y. DC
Horizon Solutions announced plans to open a Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Guilderland, N.Y.
In a prepared statement, the distributor of electrical, industrial and safety products and services across the Northeast, said the facility will give customers access to next-day delivery from more than $10 million in electrical and industrial inventory. The facility is planned to open in August.
The new location, with approximately 80,000 square feet of space, will house the main distribution center for Horizon operations across the Northeast, as well as its eastern New York State branch offices and a new customer training facility.
"We are financially strong and we see an opportunity to make investments that will continue to enhance our ability to deliver the very best solutions for our customers' Automation, Electrical, Industrial and Safety requirements," said Jim Newton, president and CEO.
In addition to the new distribution center, Horizon's 2010 investment plan includes expansion of the Horizon Lighting and Energy Services Group to meet customer demands for increased energy efficiency; new sales offices in Boston and Utica N.Y.; logistics/warehousing technology at the new CDC and upgraded "Voice Over Internet" phone systems; expanded product and service capabilities to help customers understand and address safety issues.
