Grainger August sales up 10%

Grainger said its sales results for the month of August increased 10 percent compared to the same month last year.


Results included a 4 percentage point contribution from acquisitions and a 1 percentage point decline from foreign exchange. Organic sales increased 7 percent, including 4 percentage points from volume, 4 percentage points from price, partially offset by a 1 percentage point decline from lower sales of hurricane-related products in August 2012 versus August 2011. 

Sales in the U.S. were up by 4%, while sales in Canada experienced a 12% gain, 13% in local currency. Sales to other businesses climbed 30%, excluding acquisitions in Europe and Brazil.
