Manufactured goods orders increased in June
New orders for manufactured goods increased by 0.7 percent in June to $501.7 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today.
Durable goods increased 0.8 percent to $251.5 billion, down from the previously published 1.0 percent increase. This followed a 0.3 percent May decrease. Transportation equipment, also up following two consecutive monthly decreases, led the increase at 2.1 percent to $87.7 billion. New orders for manufactured nondurable goods increased 0.5 percent to $250.2 billion.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods increased 1.5 percent to $251.1 billion, down from the previously published 1.7 percent increase.
