June wholesale inventories inch up
Wholesale inventories for June, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $903.3 billion, up 0.2% (±0.2%)* from May 2024, and were up 0.1% (±0.7%) from June 2023, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The April 2024 to May 2024 percentage change was unrevised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.6% (±0.2%).
The international trade deficit was $96.8 billion in June, down $2.5 billion from $99.4 billion in May. Exports of goods for June were $172.3 billion, $4.3 billion more than May exports. Imports of goods for June were $269.2 billion, $1.7 billion more than May imports.
Retail inventories for June, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $802.1 billion, up 0.7% (±0.2%) from May 2024, and were up 5.3% (±0.5%) from June 2023.
The April 2024 to May 2024 percentage change was unrevised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.6% (±0.2%).
