Praxair and Linde end merger talks

Praxair Inc. today confirmed that its preliminary discussions with Linde AG regarding a potential merger have terminated.

The companies announced in August that they had entered into discussions regarding a potential merger. No reason was given for why the talks broke off.

The merger discussion followed the recent acquisition of Praxair competitor Airgas by Air Liquide Company.

With 2015 sales of $11 billion, Praxair is a leading industrial gas company in North and South America and one of the largest worldwide. The company produces, sells and distributes atmospheric, process and specialty gases, and high-performance surface coatings.

Based in Munich, Germany, The Linde Group generated revenue of EUR 17.944 billion, making it one of the leading gases and engineering companies in the world.
