Knipex Cobra water pump pliers

Knipex Tools added the Cobra XL and Cobra XXL additions to the Cobra Water Pump Pliers family.

The tools offer the performance and comfort of water pump pliers while being lighter in weight and having a greater gripping capacity than comparable pipe wrenches.

Knipex CobraDistinguished by a push-button, fine adjustment, the pliers are quick and comfortable to use. Fast adjustment on the workpiece can be made by using the push button. With pliers in hand, the user presses down the push-button adjustment and fully opens the jaw on the workpiece. While continuing to push the button, the user slides the lower jaw up until it is positioned on the workpiece, lets go of the button, and a clicking sound will confirm that the jaws are locked in place. The pliers will maintain the jaw size until it is readjusted using the push button.

Gripping surfaces, designed to grip all shapes of workpieces, with special, hardened teeth of approximately 61 Rockwell hardness, contribute to the tremendous gripping ability of the Cobra XL and XXL pliers and cause low wear on both the pliers and the workpiece.

The additions to the Cobra line offer superior user comfort, with a box-joint design for stability, a built-in pinch guard to prevent injury to hands or fingers and plastic-dipped comfort handles.

“The Cobra XL and XXL pliers are made large enough to accomplish the task, while still providing a light-weight option that can easily be transported from one jobsite to another,” said Alan W. Sipe, president and general manager, KNIPEX Tools.

The Cobra XL offers a 3 ½-inch grip and weighs less than 3 pounds; with a length of 16 inches, it easily fits into a tool box. The Cobra XXL also provides a larger gripping capacity in a smaller tool, while weighing the same as a 2-inch, pipe-gripping pliers; it offers a 4 ½-inch grip, weighing less than 6 pounds, with a length of 22 inches. Made from German chrome vanadium electric steel, forged and oil hardened; both models are self-locking on pipes and nuts, keeping them from slipping and requiring less force from the user.
