Bill Ziegler Sr. passes away
Bill Ziegler Sr. died peacefully on Dec. 24 in his residence at the age of 94.
Born in 1920 in Marysvale, Utah, Ziegler lived his youth in College Park, Ga. After attending Russell High School, he graduated from The Georgia Institute of Technology in 1941. He was proud to be one of seven brothers who graduated from GA Tech. He continued his loyalty to Tech and was very active with the Georgia Tech Alumni Association. After serving in the Army during WWII, he returned to work at the Ford Motor Co. for several years before leaving to begin his own tool distributor company.
He was president and CEO of Ziegler Tools Inc. for over 60 years. He also served as president of the Southern Industrial Distributors Assoc. He was a life-long member of the Downtown Atlanta Kiwanis Club, and was active with his wife Jimi at the College Park United Methodist Church and later at Peachtree Road UMC.
He is survived by his sister Betty Z. Dunn of Raleigh, N.C., his children Kim Z. Vickery, Jan Z. Koehler, and Bill and Susan Ziegler Jr. He had six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
