Würth Group sales climbed 9%

The Würth Group reported sales of €11.05 billion in 2015 (about $12.01 billion USD), a 9 percent gain compared to sales of €10.13 the previous year.

"We were able to expand our sales volume by 9.0 percent. Among other things, this is due to the successful regional expansion of individual business units, the branch office network and the sales force," said Robert Friedmann, chairman of the central managing board of Würth Group.

Exchange rate fluctuations had a positive effect, driving sales growth by another 2.5 percentage points.

The company reported above-average growth rates in Southern and Eastern Europe. In Spain, the Würth Group achieved sales growth of 11.6 percent. Outside Europe, the Würth Group developed positively as well, especially in North America, the company said. In Germany, the Würth Group's sales volume grew by 4.2 percent.

During 2015, the company added 1,000 sales representatives globally and plans to hire an additional 1,500 in 2016. The company currently employs 68,922 people worldwide.

In October, the Germany-based distributor acquired Des Moines Bolt, a distributor of fasteners and supplies based in Des Moines, Iowa, which had 2015 sales of $40 million.
