Plant Service Co.'s Douds remembered

Bill Douds, president of Plant Service Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away at the age of 73 in late December.


Bill DoudDouds joined Plant Service Co. in 1969 as an inside salesman. He was appointed president of the family-owned industrial distributor in 1992.

Originally from Fredonia, Pa., Douds was a 1962 graduate of Westminster College, where he and his twin brother Bob were outstanding athletes. He co-captained the 1961-1962 basketball team that was the No. 1 ranked small college team in the nation. He won the NAIA Hustle Award during the 1962 NAIA basketball playoffs in Kansas City. He was inducted into the Westminster College Hall of Fame and the Mercer County Hall of Fame.

An outstanding golfer, Doud won numerous club championships at St. Clair Country Club in Pittsburgh, and Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. He also won the Pennsylvania Seniors Golf Title in 1995 and 1997.

Doud is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ginny Douds; sons Bill (Dawn) Douds and Mike (Lynn) Douds; brother Bob (Marilyn) Douds and grandchildren Megan, Will, Michael and Alex.
