Abrasive Resource receives award

The Manufacturing Leadership Council recognized Minneapolis-based Abrasive Resource during the 2014 Manufacturing Leadership Summit in Palm Beach, Fla., on June 5.

Now in its tenth year, the Manufacturing Leadership 100 Awards honor companies that are shaping the future of global manufacturing.

Abrasive Resource received recognition for its Fiber Disc Reclamation Project in the Sustainability Leadership Category. The project was to design a new machine that uses laser technology to cut down used abrasive discs. This provides an abrasive recycling solution that can save manufacturers thousands of dollars in fiber disc purchases.

In addition to the cost savings in annual abrasive purchases, fiber disc reclamation is environmentally friendly and substantially reduces waste. Metal fabrication shops and OEM’s are upgrading their efforts towards sustainable manufacturing, and recycling used fiber discs is a green initiative that is easy to put into place.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Abrasive Resource is a converter and distributor of abrasive sanding and grinding products. The video below explains more about the company's effort to reduce industrial waste by reclaiming fiber discs.
