Fastenal sales soar 14.9 percent in May

Fastenal reported sales of $383.5 million in May, a 14.9 percent increase from $333.7 million in May 2016.


Daily sales of $17.4 million in May compared to $15.9 million in May 2016. There were 22 business days in May this year compared to 21 days last year.

Sales to manufacturing customers increased by 8.1 percent during the month, while sales to nonresidential construction customers gained 7.2 percent.

The Winona, Minnesota-based distributor added 118 employees in its stores in April 2017 in connection with the acquisition of Mansco. It ended the month with a total of 19,996 employees, down 1.4 percent from 20,286 in May of last year.
