Sterling Supply celebrates 60 years

Sterling Supply Co. of Huntington, W.V., is celebrating its 60th year in business.

The distributor of abrasives and cutting tools held an open house on June 27 to mark the occasion, which included the reading of a proclamation from Hungtingon Mayor Steve Williams declaring June 27 as Sterling Supply Company Day.

Founded in 1953 by John E. Zitter and his wife, Regina (Jerry), it is operated today by their sons, John Zitter, president, and William Zitter, vice president.

"We are so fortunate to have survived and thrived for 60 years. We owe so much to Dad for taking the risk to start the company and our Mom for taking over after his death and building a company that could last this long and for the future," said John Zitter.

The company also operates a branch in Charleston, W.V.
