Skaalen named PFERD VP

PFERD INC. announced the appointment of Peter Skaalen as vice president of operations.

Skaalen will be based at the PFERD facility in Milwaukee, Wis., where he will be responsible for directing all manufacturing and distribution operations for PFERD ADVANCE in the U.S. PFERD ADVANCE moved all production equipment and inventory to Milwaukee three years ago.

Skaalen comes to PFERD from Waukesha Metal products where he served five years as operations manager. At PFERD, he will report directly to company president, Gene Huegin.

He also previously served as general manager of Slinger Manufacturing, director of operations for Huffy Sports and plant engineer for John Deere. He holds a BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Stout. Skaalen is a member of PMA and holds a manufacturing process patent for leather products. He is originally from Richfield, Wis., but now resides in Hubertus, Wis., with his wife, Diana, and their two children.

"We are fortunate to have a person with Peter's experience to take over such a key position for us. His strengths fit our needs exactly and we look forward to his contributions making a major impact on achieving our sales and service goals," Huegin said.

Commenting on his appointment, Skaalen said he is ready for the new challenge. "PFERD ADVANCE has been set up as a leading edge facility and has already significantly upgraded PFERD capabilities in serving their distributors. I know I can continue this trend in service improvement and help meet the abrasive and brush needs of all the metalworking, welding, construction and industrial markets in the future," Skaalen said.
