Praxair sales fall 3 percent
Praxair reported second-quarter sales were $2.67 billion, 3% below the prior-year quarter
Net income was $399 million, or $1.39 per share, compared to $308 million, or $1.06, in the same quarter last year.
In North America, second-quarter sales were $1.41 billion, 5% below the prior-year quarter.
“Praxair’s industrial gas businesses in Asia, Europe and South America grew volumes while benefiting from new on-site project start-ups. However, North America volumes experienced further declines due to weaker upstream energy and U.S. manufacturing activity," said chairman and chief executive officer Steve Angel.
