ISA receives major donation for Buffington scholarship

The Industrial Supply Association announced a gift of $32,500 was received by the ISA Education Foundation for the Gary L. Buffington Memorial Scholarship.


The gift was bequeathed by the estate of Charles R. Rice, a longtime friend of Buffington's.

John Jacobsen, chair of the ISA Education foundation, expressed thanks for the donation in a letter to Rice's family:

"On behalf of ISA and the Education Foundation, thank you for the generous gift of $32,500 to the Gary L. Buffington Scholarship Fund. Charles Rice's personal connection and dedication to Gary Buffington is shown through his generosity in bestowing the scholarship with this contribution. Along with his everlasting legacy, Charles has left behind a commitment to the professional development of individuals within the industry that Gary cared so much about. This inspirational devotion and generosity will positively affect many people for countless years to come."

The Gary L. Buffington Memorial Scholarship awards an annual $10,000 scholarship to a rising senior in an established college or university that offers a program in industrial distribution. Previous winners have included students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Nebraska at Kearney, Texas A&M, Purdue and Clarkson University.
