ISA Distributor and Manufacturer Indices rise in September

The October ISA Economic Indicator Report (EIR) from the Industrial Supply Association showed gains for Distributors and Manufacturers during the month of September.

The ISA Manufacturer Index increased from 58.2 in August to 59.9 in September, while the Distributor Index increased from 60.1 to 63.2.

“This month’s report showed gains for both distributors and manufacturers, but ISA members expressed some caution moving into fall,” said Bryon Shafer, general manager of ASG Industrial and chair of ISA’s Strategic Information Committee. “Comments from survey participants suggest a sluggishness in the economy that bears watching.”

For each index, a reading above 50% indicates expansion, while a reading below 50% indicates contraction. The Indexes have been above 50% since December 2012.

The Industrial Supply Association (ISA) will host a live webinar Oct. 27, at 11:00 a.m. EST, discussing economic indicators and forecast data from its Sept. 2015 reports. The in-depth data will be discussed and parsed by experts from both the distributor and supplier sides of the industry. Registration is now open.
