PTDA trustees promote ICP to technical educators

Two PTDA Foundation Trustees recently met with an association of technical educators to promote careers in industrial distribution.

Pamela Kan of Bishop-Wisecarver Corporation and Tribby Warfield of Gates Corporation, along with ICP program director Mary Jawgiel, participated in the meeting of the Association for Career and Technical Educators (ACTE), December 5-7. Attended by 4,000 technical/vocational instructors, administrators and counselors, they spoke with individuals who influence ICP’s target market of 18-34 year olds with a technical aptitude, who like to solve problems and work with people.

“The PTDA Foundation Board believes strongly in getting the message on industrial distribution out to the world. We believe this is extremely important, so Tribby and I went to this meeting and helped work the ICP booth. We met educators who are looking for new career opportunities to tell their students about,” said Kan.

Warfield added “These educators are so excited when we tell them that this field is looking for younger people who don’t necessarily need a college degree to get started. And, when educators hear that these are good paying jobs with benefits, they’re sold on having an industrial distributor come talk to their class about the field.”

At the event, ICP collected over 120 leads requesting attendance by an industrial distributor at career fairs and to come make a presentation to their students. ICP is currently matching each request with an ICP Ambassador to spread the word about the field to the next generation of industrial distributors. These events are a great opportunity for companies to develop leads on future job candidates by meeting with them face-to-face.

Through the collective support of Alliance Partners and their member companies, ICP is devoted to building awareness among the 18-34 year old audience about the incredibly rewarding careers available in industrial distribution.
