It's a blast for Marco employees
A group of employees from the Marco sales team experienced abrasive blasting first hand during the semi-annual Marco blast day.
Blast day is where Marco, a Davenport, Iowa-based manufacturer of equipment for the surface preparation and protective coatings industries, takes new hires and senior staff into the field to experience what an abrasive blast is like. More than 15 people got into abrasive blasting suits and helmets and blasted an old water tank using the Blastmaster 6.5 CU. FT. M-Series Abrasive Blasting Pot. Each employee spent a few minutes blasting garnet at the tank.
“We really put them into the position of what a blaster does,” says Adam Jawoisz, technical support specialist. “I really feel this is a great experience for our employees and it gives them a better perspective of just how hard the guys in the field are working.” Jawoisz is also the lead trainer at Marco and has been leading these blast days for eight years.
“I feel this gives you more credibility, especially as a woman,” says Haely Ploog, sales account manager. “To be able to see the whole set up, the big picture in person, has been especially helpful for me.”
When hired, all employees go through extensive product training, both hands-on and in the classroom. The semi-annual blast day is the fun, informative way of capping off that training.
