NAW urges administration to use traditional supply chain

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors sent a letter to Vice President Mike Pence today encouraging the administration to commit to using established supply chains to obtain supplies to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the NAW, some members have started hearing reports that the Federal Government has begun bypassing established distribution channels in their attempt to secure needed supplies.

In response, NAW sent a letter to Vice President Pence, who is leading the White House COVID-19 Task Force, urging his team that during this critical time the Federal Government must rely on the efficiencies of those who best know distribution to expedite and assure delivery of critical product.

"There is a reason that some $6 trillion dollars of goods and commodities move through wholesale distribution channels each year. It is because this is the most efficient way of moving product from where it is made to where it is needed," the letter said.
