Orders for manufactured goods increase 5.3% in November
New orders for manufactured durable goods in November, up three of the last four months, increased $16.4 billion or 5.3% to $323.8 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
This followed a 2.1% October decrease.
Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.5%. Excluding defense, new orders increased 6.6%. Transportation equipment, also up three of the last four months, led the increase: $15.3 billion (14.7%) to $119.3 billion.
