Grainger January sales up 17%

Grainger reported sales for January increased 17 percent versus January 2011.


Results included a 5 percentage point contribution from acquisitions. Excluding acquisitions, organic sales increased 12 percent, including 12 percentage points from volume and 2 percentage points from price, partially offset by a 1 percentage point decline from both foreign exchange and lower sales of seasonal products.

Sales in the United States increased 11%, while sales in Canada increased by 17% (19% in local currency). Sales to other businesses increased 103%.
