New PTDA report offers exclusive insight on manufacturer–distributor partnerships

The Power Transmission Distributors Association’s (PTDA) announced the release of its newest proprietary research report, "Voices from the Channel: Insights to Improve Partnerships."

The association said the report delivers a first-of-its-kind look at how manufacturers and distributors view their relationships—and where opportunities exist to strengthen collaboration across the power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) channel.

Developed from candid feedback on both sides of the channel, the report reveals where partnerships are working, where expectations diverge, and where untapped opportunities may exist to improve communication, alignment and overall performance.

Rather than offering surface-level observations, the report takes a hard look at what manufacturers and distributors think they’re aligned on and where the reality tells a different story.

Here’s what manufacturers aren’t always saying out loud:

  • What they quietly rank as the most important factor in a partnership and why many distributors miss the mark
  • The behavior that consistently frustrates them the most (and it’s more common than you think)
  • Where they see the biggest gap in distributor performance and the opportunity that comes with it

From the distributor perspective:

  • What they say they value most and why it’s not always being delivered
  • The one move that can instantly erode trust, even in long-standing relationships
  • What they’re really looking for from manufacturers to help them win more business, and why it goes beyond products

The report also provides a clear path forward, offering practical strategies to improve communication, strengthen alignment and build more resilient, high-performing partnerships across the channel.

PTDA members can download the report at no cost through April 30. After that date, members may continue to access the report at the standard member rate of $250, while non-members can purchase it for $500.
