Emerson sales rise 8 percent

Emerson said its net sales of $4.6 billion in the second quarter increased 8 percent from $4.2 billion in the same period last year.

Net earnings of $520 million, or 84 cents per share, improved from $482 million, or 76 cents, in the same period last year.

“Demand in the second quarter was healthy across the world areas. Automation Solutions continued to drive healthy mix across its three kinds of business – maintenance and repair spending, brownfield projects and greenfield investments,” said David N. Farr, chairman and chief executive officer. “Trends in our Commercial & Residential Solutions end markets improved overall, and we are optimistic about returning to solid growth in the second half.
