ATC Diversified Electronics expands Motor Director sales support resources

ATC Diversified Electronics has expanded its online sales and technical support resources for Motor Director, adding new application-specific literature that helps distributors, OEMs, maintenance teams, and manufacturing and processing customers better understand the role of advanced monitoring in protecting critical motors.

The new resources include the white paper, "The Hidden Impact of Voltage Imbalance on Motor Reliability and How Advanced Monitoring Reduces Failure Risk," and the application brief, "Reducing Motor Failure Risk from Voltage Imbalance in a Manufacturing Facility with Motor Director." Both pieces are designed to support customer education and sales conversations around one of the most overlooked threats to motor reliability: voltage imbalance.

The new materials explain how seemingly minor voltage imbalance in a three-phase power system can create a much larger current imbalance inside a motor, increasing thermal stress and contributing to premature motor wear, unplanned downtime, and emergency repair costs. The application brief presents field-based Motor Director data from a 75 HP motor on an instrument air compressor, showing how advanced monitoring helped identify imbalance conditions before they could escalate into a more costly failure event.

Motor Director is a comprehensive UL-508A Motor Protection System that provides real-time insight into motor health from virtually any location. With cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity, Motor Director allows users to access vital motor data 24/7 from a phone, tablet, or computer. Users can also customize alerts by push notification, text, or email when irregularities are detected.

In addition to monitoring, Motor Director can be integrated directly into a motor’s control circuitry, allowing the motor to be safely dropped out and isolated from the voltage source in the event of an electrical fault. The system also captures event logs and historical trend data, helping maintenance teams identify developing issues, support root-cause analysis, and make better-informed maintenance decisions.
Motor Director measures and analyzes current, voltage, frequency, run time, vibration, temperature, power factor, reactive power, real power, energy consumption, and other sensor-based conditions.
