Pelican Rope Works marks one year of Scope partnership
One year after announcing its partnership with Scope, Pelican Rope Works is marking a successful first year of bringing AI-powered rope inspection to customers from coast to coast.
Pelican reports that the system has performed exceptionally well in the field and has become a valuable tool for understanding rope condition and supporting informed decisions about rope use and care.
Announced in August 2025, the relationship pairs Pelican’s expertise in synthetic rope manufacturing with Scope’s artificial intelligence and computer vision technology. The collaboration helps customers identify visible wear indicators and maintain digital inspection records, adding a consistent source of information to rope evaluation.
Scope’s inspection platform uses AI and computer vision to identify indicators such as strand separation, abrasion and compression damage. Its digital records help teams document findings and review rope condition over time, complementing the experience and judgment of the people responsible for inspection.
The partnership initially included support for Pelican’s Furious-12 (H-12) HMPE 12-strand rope and P-12 12-strand polyester rope, product lines used in demanding utility, industrial and marine applications. One year later, Pelican sees continued value in connecting its rope expertise with a more detailed view of how ropes are performing in service.

Williams, executive vice president of Pelican Rope Works. “The system has worked exceptionally well from coast to coast, and we see tremendous value in the insight it brings to rope analysis. It gives our team and our customers a clearer picture of rope condition and a stronger foundation for informed decisions.”
That investment in customer support also extends to Pelican Rope Works and U.S. Rigging Supply’s recently opened 24,000-square-foot distribution center in Hammond, Louisiana, which complements the Santa Ana manufacturing and West Coast shipping operation and strengthens service across the Gulf Coast and Eastern United States.
Pelican said the anniversary marks a continuing commitment to practical innovation: high-performance rope, useful inspection information and responsive support for the people who put its products to work.
