Robotics & Automation Q&A Series, Part 1

Following is an expansion of Industrial Supply Magazine's July/August issue covering robotics and automation for industrial distributors. This week's Q&A is with Oana Jinga, co-founder and chief commercial and product officer at Dexory. Read the print edition here.

Oana Jinga

Industrial Supply: What are the 1–3 biggest trends in warehouse robotics and automation today, and what’s driving them?

Jinga: One of the biggest trends is the move from isolated automation tools to more connected and intelligent warehouse operations. Companies are looking for technologies that not only automate tasks, but also provide real-time operational visibility and actionable insights.

Another major trend is the growing use of AI to improve decision-making inside the warehouse. Businesses want to better understand inventory movement, warehouse utilisation, and operational bottlenecks so they can respond faster and operate more efficiently.

We are also seeing increased demand for automation that can be deployed quickly and integrated into existing warehouse environments. Many distributors are under pressure to improve productivity and inventory accuracy without disrupting day-to-day operations or significantly expanding their footprint.

IS: What do you recommend distributors should think about and investigate before investing in robotics/automation for their warehouse operations?

Jinga: Distributors should first identify the operational challenge they are trying to solve. Whether the goal is improving inventory accuracy, increasing throughput, or reducing manual processes, successful automation projects start with clear business objectives.

It is also important to evaluate how well new technologies will integrate with existing systems and workflows. Flexibility and scalability are critical, especially in fast-moving warehouse environments.

Finally, businesses should focus on solutions that deliver measurable operational value quickly. The most effective automation investments are those that improve visibility, support better decision-making, and help teams operate more efficiently from day one.

IS: Please describe 1 new and/or innovative product/technology your company has recently released. What are its highlights?

We recently introduced DexoryView Adapt, a new capability within Dexory’s digital twin platform, designed to help warehouses move from visibility to real-time operational decision-making.

While many warehouse technologies today provide data and visibility, operators still face the challenge of knowing what actions to take and when. DexoryView Adapt addresses this by combining real-time warehouse data, AI-powered reasoning, and digital twin technology to identify operational issues and recommend evidence-backed actions as conditions change.

The platform continuously analyses data captured by Dexory’s autonomous robots alongside warehouse-specific operational rules and workflows. This creates a live understanding of warehouse activity that can proactively flag issues before they escalate, while also enabling teams to query operations and receive contextual recommendations in real time.

Key use cases include improving space utilization and slotting, identifying the root causes of congestion or operational inefficiencies, and helping operators make faster, more informed decisions across the warehouse.

A major advantage of DexoryView Adapt is that it enables warehouses to become more adaptive and responsive without requiring significant changes to existing infrastructure or operations.
