Reflective Apparel, a manufacturer of high visibility apparel, launched RAflect50, high-visibility (hi-vis) garments engineered to withstand the high temperatures and harsh chemicals of industrial laundries.

After 25 washes, traditional hi-vis garments may begin to lose their colorfastness and reflective properties. In fact, some of these safety properties can start to fade after just five washes. That means traditional 25-wash hi-vis garments, washed twice a week, may be out of compliance with ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 standards in only 12 weeks. In regard to the industrial laundry rental segment, garments need to withstand at least 50 harsh wash and dry cycles. RAflect50 hi-vis garments have been independently tested to withstand at least 50 washes in this industrial laundry environment. Ensuring that the quality and integrity of the entire garment remains intact throughout the life of the rented garment.

“We set out to design durable workwear that has the same comfort, visibility and quality of our premium reflective garments, but engineered to be tough enough to stand up to uniform rental and industrial laundry environments,” said Scott A. Corrao, president of Reflective Apparel. “It saves companies time and money when they do not have to replace high visibility uniforms as frequently, while still maintaining the highest safety standards.”

RAflect50 products are available in multiple styles including rental-friendly T-shirts, woven work shirts and polos. All RAflect50 products feature segmented reflective tape for high visibility, comfort, longevity and durability and comply with ANSI Class II High Visibility standards. The micro pique fabric used in RAflect50 hi-vis garments received third-party certification for ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 High Visibility Compliance.

RAflect50 products feature 3M Scotchgard soil release for easy care and 3M Moisture Wicking finish. The performance fabric wicks away moisture three times faster than cotton. Comfort and cooling features also include vented underarms and back yoke and Silverplus® technology to minimize odors. AATCC test results confirm excellent fabric physicals, including:

  • 4.9 out of 5 for snag resistance
  • 5 out of 5 for pilling resistance
  • 5 out of 5 for colorfastness
  • 3.5 shrinkage

“RAflect50 is a game-changer for the uniform rental industry,” said Becky Keith, vice president of sales for Reflective Apparel. “There are rigorous service requirements for garments that run through a rental laundry process. Garments are processed at high temperatures with harsh chemicals. RAflect50 is engineered to withstand a two-year life cycle under these conditions.
