Chicago Fed National Activity Index fell in December

Led by declines in production-related indicators, the Chicago Fed National Activity Index fell to –0.15 in December from +0.44 in November.


Two of the four broad categories of indicators used to construct the index made negative contributions in December, and all four categories deteriorated from November. The index’s three-month moving average moved down to +0.33 in December from +0.40 in November.
