Chicago Fed National Activity Index decreased slightly in February

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index moved down to +0.51 in February from +0.59 in January.


Three of the four broad categories of indicators used to construct the index made positive contributions in February, but two categories deteriorated from January. The index’s three-month moving average ticked down to +0.35 in February from +0.37 in January.

The CFNAI Diffusion Index, which is also a three-month moving average, edged up to +0.32 in February from +0.29 in January.
