B&D Industrial names head of IIoT solutions

B&D Industrial has hired John Finnegan to lead B&D’s emergent industrial internet of things (IIoT) solutions.

The Macon, Georgia-based distributor’s IIoT enterprise consists of a software as a service offering that collects data from various devices in a manufacturing or municipal facility and is available for display and usage in multiple manners, including condition monitoring, machine learning, and critical compliance needs from a secure cloud-based platform. The promising IIoT solution has significant synergies with B&D’s core 75-year history of reliability and expertise, including B&D’s recent acquisition of GTI Predictive last year.

Finnegan joins B&D after over 20 years at Rittal North America, where he gained extensive sales, marketing, and overall leadership experience. He began his career with Rittal selling industrial automation enclosure solutions in the Atlanta market and received several promotions in his career. Most recently, he was a member of the executive team as Vice President of Industrial Sales. In this role, Finnegan had responsibility for the entire US industrial market, including emergent software solutions, and led Rittal’s commercial sales efforts. He will be based in B&D’s Norcross, GA facility.

“We are exceptionally proud to have a leader of John’s caliber to lead our IIoT efforts. IIoT is a pillar of our strategic plan, and participation is key to our ability to provide customer value in the same way that B&D has for the last 75 years,” said Brian Davis, co-CEO of B&D Industrial. “John has a long career serving industrial customers. He has been involved in product launches, led teams well, and built profitable businesses. He is just the kind of leader that we need to help us build out these new offerings, and we are happy to have him on our team.”
