Adhesive and Sealant Council names innovation winners

The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) presented the 2025 Innovation Award to 3M and Ryan McKenney, Chris Pattillo, Lili Qie, Andrew Horvath, Tom Schaefer, and Taylor Hodne for their development entitled "3MTM Fastbond Pressure Sensitive Adhesive 1049.”


The ninth annual Innovation Awards event was held during ASC's Annual Convention & Expo in Jacksonville, Florida April 15. The awards recognize the top three innovations from the adhesive and sealant industry.

Independent judges reviewed the following categories and weightings as part of their review process:

  • Science and Innovation (30%)
  • Applicability & Impact (10%)
  • Impact of the Technology Relative to the State of the Art (30%)
  • Qualifications, Experience and Capabilities (20%)
  • Significant Milestone (10%)

3M’s Fastbond pressure sensitive, water-based adhesive matches or exceeds the performance of solvent-based adhesives, while significantly reducing VOCs. The PSA also utilizes a novel adhesive delivery system, leveraging a cylinder technology that allows for improved cylinder compatibility, resulting in better shelf-life of the product. First Runner Up went to Wacker with a development called “GENIOSIL STP-E140/340: The Next Generation of STP-E Technology." For more information about this development click HERE.

2nd Runner Up went to H.B. Fuller for a development titled “Rapid Strength Hybrid Reactive Hotmelt Adhesives for use in Auto Assembly” For more information about this development click HERE.
