Manufactured goods orders decline 10.3 percent
New orders for manufactured goods declined by 10.3 percent to $445.8 billion in March, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today.
Shipments decreased by 5.2 percent to $473.6 billion.
New orders for manufactured durable goods decreased by 14.7 percent to $212.6 billion. Transportation equipment led the decrease, down 41.3 percent to $50.9 billion.
New orders for manufactured nondurable goods decreased $14.4 billion or 5.8 percent to $233.2 billion.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods decreased 4.7 percent to $240.4 billion. Nondurable goods shipments decreased 5.8 percent to $233.2 billion.
