"While we are losing Ray’s ability to train the next generation, his knowledge will still be available through the sales staff he’s mentored and in our Distributor Training videos," according to a company statement. During his career, Ellis conducted hundreds of training classes and trained thousands of distributor partners to his high standards.

Ellis started with the company as one of its first salesmen, driving a van to promote and educate customers on the company's entire product line, including the Saddle Vent. Legend has it he would drive a vehicle across a Saddle Vent to show the durability of the product.

Ellis was also a fixture at numerous trade shows every year, including the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition (AIHce), the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), and the National Safety Council (NSC) and was always eager to discuss customer applications and solutions. He also helped grow the company's OEM business over the last 25 years.

Chesapeake, Virginia-based Air Systems International manufactures breathing air filtration units, air cylinder carts, confined space ventilation equipment, portable area lighting, and environmental control products.
