Manufactured goods orders decline deepens
New orders for manufactured goods decreased 13.0 percent in April to $384.3 billion, following an 11.0 percent March decrease.
New orders for manufactured durable goods decreased 17.7 percent to $168.7 billion for the month. This followed a 16.7 percent March decrease. New orders for manufactured nondurable goods decreased 9.0 percent to $215.6 billion, following a 5.8 percent decline the previous month.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods decreased 18.2 percent in April to $191.2 billion, compared to a 5.5 percent decline in March. Shipments of manufactured nondurable goods decreased 9.0 percent to $215.6 billion, following a 5.4 percent March decline.
