Fire destroys Western Hose & Gasket facility

A three-alarm fire destroyed a Western Hose & Gasket facility in National City, California, near San Diego.


The WestFlex company has two locations. In addition to the National City location it also operates a facility in Whittier, California, near Los Angeles.

According to a report in the Times of San Diego, the fire was called in at 11:05 p.m. on Aug. 1. More than 100 firefighters fought the blaze. 

The company has been owned by the LeGros family since its founding in 1979. According to the company's website, email and phone communication is being restored and a temporary location should be established within a week.

No injuries were reported but the building suffered extensive damage and will likely need to be demolished.
