Manufactured goods orders increased in August
New orders for manufactured goods increased 0.7 percent in August to $470.1 billion, marking the fourth month of consecutive gains, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today.
This followed a 6.5 percent July increase.
Shipments, also up four consecutive months, increased $1.4 billion or 0.3 percent to $481.3 billion. This followed a 4.7 percent July increase.
New orders for manufactured durable goods increased 0.5 percent to $233.2 billion, up from the previously published 0.4 percent increase. New orders for manufactured nondurable goods increased 0.8 percent to $236.9 billion.
