Ingersoll-Rand revenues up 8 percent

Ingersoll-Rand plc reported revenues of $4.3 billion in the third quarter, an 8 percent increase from the same period last year.

Net earnings of $459 million, or $1.88 per share, were down from from $515 million, or $2.06, in last year's third quarter.

“Our strong performance in global HVAC is offsetting declines in the Industrial segment’s Compression Technologies and Industrial Products businesses, where we are seeing continued weakness in global short cycle industrial spending," said Michael W. Lamach, chairman and chief executive officer.

Industrial segment revenues of $873 million increased 10 percent from $792 million in the same period last year.
