Radiac Abrasives achieves ISO 14001 Certification

Radiac Abrasives, A TYROLIT Company has earned ISO 14001:2015 certification for its Environmental Management System (EMS).

The ISO 14001 certification under the International Organization for Standardization sets out criteria for an EMS. An external audit was completed to verify Radiac’s EMS is adequately adhering to the published standard, which seeks to continuously reduce environmental impact.

For the past 18 months, Andrew Ferry, EHS manager, Weston Holt, EHS specialist, and Tom Bucinski, quality engineer, have strived to complete the certification by implementing environmental processes and controls. Through the implementation, Radiac has reduced hazardous waste disposal by 80 percent, reduced non-hazardous waste disposal by 60 percent, reduced air emissions nearly 20 percent, implemented waste recycling programs and quantified environmental risk for manufacturing operations in order to drive and direct improvement actions.

“We are pleased to achieve the ISO 14001 certification by demonstrating a commitment to our environmental management system,” said Ferry. “The entire team worked hard to innovate our systems, tools, and processes to make a significant positive impact on our environment. This certification validates our commitment to being environmentally conscious by maintaining standards and being proactive to implement future initiatives.”
