Emerson 4Q sales up 10 percent

Emerson said that strong global demand drove a 10 percent increase in fourth quarter net sales of $4.9 billion.


Net earnings of $617 million, or 97 cents per share, compared to $504 million, or 78 cents, in the same quarter last year.

For the full year, sales of $17.4 billion were up 14 percent from $15.3 billion in 2017. Net earnings of $2.2 billion, or $3.46 per share, compared to earnings of $1.5 billion, or $2.35, the previous year.

Automation Solutions net sales increased 11 percent in the quarter. Growth continued to reflect strong maintenance and repair (MRO) demand. Trends were positive across all key market verticals and world areas.

Commercial & Residential Solutions net sales were up 7 percent in the quarter. Growth was driven by strong demand in North American commercial and residential air conditioning markets as well as strong demand in global professional tools and cold chain markets.
