Schauenburg sells medical tubing and extrusion businesses

Schauenburg Hose Technology has agreed to sell its medical tubing businesses GlobalMed Inc. (Canada) and Schauenburg?Truplast (China) to Molded Devices Inc., a portfolio company of U.S. private equity firm TruArc Partners.


Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

GMI is a pure?play medical tubing manufacturer with over 40 years of plastic extrusion expertise serving the world’s leading medical device OEMs in the fields of anesthesia, respiratory, ventilation, surgical (smoke evacuation) and sleep apnea. GMI is headquartered in Trenton, Ontario, Canada with offices and production locations in both Trenton and Guangzhou, China.

“With MDI, we’ve found an excellent partner whom we believe is greatly equipped to capture GMI’s significant growth potential,” added Richard Meyer, co?CEO of Schauenburg Hose Group.

The current management team of GMI in Canada and China will stay on board and join forces with MDI’s leadership team.

The sale is effective immediately.
