Superfinishing technology increases Axis tool life up to 70%
Axis high precision micro tools feature proprietary Micro Machining Process (MMP) superfinishing technology, which enhance tool performance and increases tool life by up to 70%.
Axis is the only manufacturer to apply MMP both before and after coating – this smooths and rounds tool edges by a highly controlled 2 to 5 microns and eliminates grinding-induced sawtooth edges.
Complementing MMP edge preparation, Axis micro tools integrate High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) coating technology. This advanced PVD coating combines the strong adhesion of traditional ARC methods with the ultra-smooth surface finishing of sputtering. When combined with MMP, this hybrid process maximizes coating adhesion and delivers a mirror-like finish that prevents chip welding and reduces heat generation. Smoother edges mean less friction and heat, while mirror-like flutes provide improved chip evacuation. All processes are performed in-house allowing for unrivaled quality and consistency, ensuring predictable batch to batch machining. Axis micro tools are ideal for machining titanium, cobalt-chrome, and high-temperature alloys commonly used in medial and aerospace applications.
Shank sizes of 3.00, 4.00, and 6.00mm, are available, with diameters from 0.30 to 3.00 mm, coupled with unique geometries and finishes and coatings.
Axis micro tools are available through Monaghan Tooling Group with industry-leading lead times.
