Fixtureworks introduces new line of shaft coupling clamps

Fixtureworks, a supplier of workholding and fixturing technologies has augmented its clamp lineup with the addition of three versions of shaft coupling clamps: a standard version, heavy-duty version and a safety-lock shaft version.

Fixtureworks Shaft Coupling ClampsShaft coupling clamps are commonly referred to as shaft mount fasteners. They securely join two shafts together, allowing for the transmittal of torque and rotation from one shaft to the other. They are designed to hold the shafts in a precise alignment while accommodating potential misalignment issues and preventing damage from shock or vibration.

The Fixtureworks shaft-coupling clamps (shaft-mount fasteners) identified as QCSJ, are designed to be mounted to a shaft for extended reach and to provide positive locking in quick change applications where there is frequent insertion and removal of a fixture. They allow for consistent fastening force, eliminating the chance for under or over tightening. The clamp comes in body diameter of 12 mm with 20 pounds of clamping force, at a weight of only 25g.

They are designed to be used with QCSJ-S series cam receptacles. The receptacles are mounted to a fixturing base. As the shaft is inserted into the receptacle, the pins on the clamp align with the grooves in the receptacle. Rotating the fastener one-quarter-turn aligns and locks the clamp into place.

The body and shank are made from 1045 steel with an electroless nickel plated finish. The pin is made from 304 stainless steel. The spring is made from 304-CSP stainless steel. The recep-tacles are made from 4140 steel with an electroless nickel-plated finish.

The heavy-duty version of the coupling clamps (QCSJS) also provides a more robust posi-tive locking in quick change applications where there is frequent insertion and removal of a fixture. The body diameter is 22 mm and provides 90 pounds of clamping force. They are designed to be used with QCSJS-S and QCTHS-B receptacles.

Receptacles for the standard shaft-coupling clamps are made from 4140 steel with an elec-troless nickel-plated finish. The heavy-duty version receptacles are made from 1045 steel with a nickel-plated finish. Two locking receptacles are also available.

The safety-lock shaft coupling clamp version, (QCSJLK) locks on to the receptacle by turn-ing the shaft 90 degrees. A spring pin is used for locking the clamp onto the cam groove of the receptacle. Push up the collar and turn the shaft in the opposite direction for unclamping. The body is made from 303 stainless steel.

They are available in body diameter of 18 mm.. Receptacles (QCSJLK-S) for the safety-lock clamps are also made from 303 stainless steel.
