Creform towable flow rack with heavy-duty hitch
Creform Corp., a manufacturer of unique products for material handling and commercial use, has designed, built and assembled a towable production flow rack for a food service equipment manufacturer.
The flow rack features a Creform heavy duty hitch that is connected with a steel tie bar from the front to back. The hitch/tie bar connection provides reliable towing through the manufacturing plant behind a manned tugger, but the rack could also be used for AGV delivery. Typically, three to four Creform racks can be towed in a train.
The rack has three levels of gravity-fed roller tracks that provide smooth and controlled flow of containers and incorporates multiple roller track lanes. The three levels include two supply levels and a bottom return level – the top level will handle plastic totes and the second level down features Creform flanged skate wheel conveyor. HDPE trays will flow in the three supply lanes on this level. Cart designed to hold small production batch of parts. It is towed from the warehouse to the point of assembly on the production line. The flow lanes are angled for reliable container flow and presentation while guaranteeing FIFO inventory management.
The flow rack features four large diameter casters with five inch wheels, two that swivel and two that are fixed for easy rolling and position maneuverability. It is designed with ergonomics in mind as the system allows easy customization for different operators or work cells. Stationary structural feet are available as an option.
Each of the rack’s levels can be repositioned or the entire flow rack can be customized with only simple tools while the vertical presentation face allows the levels to be easily moved up or down with the same simple tool. The Modular nature of the Creform system supports long terms usage with system components readily available to repair damage or reconfigure the carts.
The dimensions of the flow rack that is pictured are 66 inches long by 40 inches wide by 48 inches tall and has a maximum load capacity of 800 lb. It is built with clamped together 28mm plastic coated steel pipe and metal joints.
As with all Creform flow racks, higher capacity, sizes, configurations and lane dividers are possible.
The flow rack pictured is white, but a wide variety of pipe colors are available as well as for ESD applications. Accessories can include information sheet holders, label holders, tool storage, hooks to hang tools and other supplies. Creform flow racks are suitable for warehouse or manufacturing plant use. They are available as a kit or an assembled structure or in the component form for a complete DIY solution.
