MRC Global records 3% sales increase
MRC Global Inc. reported second quarter net income attributable to common stockholders wasf $18 million, a significant jump from $8 million during the same quarter of 2022. Q2 gross profit was $175 million, or 20.1% of sales, as compared to the second quarter 2022 gross profit of $151 million, or 17.8% of sales.

Seventh District Midyear Review: Economic Growth Slowed Further in the First Half of 2023

The pace of economic growth continued to slow in the Seventh Federal Reserve District 1 (most of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and all of Iowa) during the first half of 2023. While total employment was still growing during the first six months of this year, the pace was slower than in 2022—and for manufacturing employment, even more so.

Wholesale trade gains 18,000 workers
Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 187,000 in July, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.5%, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported August 4. Job gains occurred in health care, social assistance, financial activities, and wholesale trade.

RBC Bearings's net sales climb 9.3%
RBC Bearings Inc., an international manufacturer of highly engineered precision bearings, components, and essential systems for the industrial, defense, and aerospace industries, reported first quarter net sales of $387.1 million, an increase of 9.3% over last year. Aerospace/defense rose 21.2%, and industrial jumped 4.7%.

Fastenal posts 3.7% increase
Fastenal Co. reported July net sales of $5.7 million, a 3.7% increase YOY. Its daily sales also grew 3.7% over July 2022.

Columbus McKinnon sales increased 7% for Q1'24
Columbus McKinnon Corp., a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of intelligent motion solutions for material handling, reported sales of $235.5 million for its first quarter of fiscal 2024, a 7% increase. Results include the addition of montratec, which was acquired on May 31.

Wesco ups sales synergy target following Q2 results
Wesco International achieved a second quarter net sales record of $5.7 billion, up 5% YOY.

DSG posts record Q2 revenue
Distribution Solutions Group, Inc. (DSG) has reported second quarter revenue of $378.0 million, an increase of $56.6 million or 17.6% over the same period of 2022.

Manufacturer orders, shipments out of step with inventories
New orders for manufactured goods in June, up six of the last seven months, increased $13.4 billion or 2.3% to $592.0 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau reported. This followed a 0.4% May increase.

Allied Motion reports 60% operating income growth
Allied Motion Technologies Inc., a designer and manufacturer of precision and specialty controlled motion products and solutions for the global market, reported its second quarter revenue increased 20%, or $24.0 million, to a record $146.8 million and reflected higher demand across most target markets and incremental revenue from acquisitions completed during last year’s second quarter.

Ingersoll Rand raises revenue guidance after Q2 performance
Ingersoll Rand Inc. reported second quarter orders of $1,737 million, up 9%, or 5% organic; it's Q2 revenues were $1,687 million, up 17%, or 12% organic.

Kennametal increases sales 3% YOY
For its fourth quarter, Kennametal Inc. reported sales were $550 million compared with $530 million in the same quarter last year. Sales increased by 4%, driven by 7% organic growth, partially offset by an unfavorable currency exchange effect of 2% and an unfavorable business days effect of 1%.

Kimball Midwest honors centennial with more giving
National industrial supplier Kimball Midwest continued its centennial celebration recently with events at its headquarters in Columbus. Associates at the distribution center there chose the Columbus Dream Center for a charitable contribution of $10,000, part of the company's community campaign to donate $1 million across the country.

Global Industrial Co. said its second quarter consolidated sales increased 2.3% to $325.8 million compared to $318.5 million last year. Excluding Indoff, acquired on May 19, 2023, sales declined 5.2%.
